Last update : 8 Jan, 2026

In late November 2025, the second cohort of advanced teachers embarked on a professional training journey to Beijing, joining a programme organised by Beijing Normal University. The training focused on the pedagogy of inquiry-based learning (IBL) and featured classroom observations, visits to leading science research institutions and interactive sessions with academic and science experts to deepen understanding of teaching, learning and assessment strategies in primary science education.

A highlight of the trip was an immersive aircraft course activity designed for Primary 6 students and developed by the Beijing Normal University curriculum team. Teachers engaged in every stage- from design and assembly to flight testing- experiencing firsthand how engineering thinking integrates with scientific principles, bringing the IBL pedagogy into practice.

The programme also emphasisedpresentation and reflection,”reinforcing participants’mastery of IBL and equipping them to mentor peers and contribute to ongoing curriculum development within their schools and across the wider science teaching community.
